Our 6-day High Country Summer Camp for teens in Washington’s Olympic National Park is designed for participants ages 13-18 who are either new or experienced backpackers. This adventure summer camp in Olympic National Park focuses on leadership and outdoor skill-building with teens camping and hiking beside high alpine lakes, rivers, waterfalls, and meadows. Most trips have an opportunity to summit peaks and/or partake in some spectacular sunsets among some breath-taking geological formations. Risk-taking and challenges complimented by fun and support from others lead to a positive and often life-changing adventure for all!

Our 6-day High Country Summer Camp for teens in Washington’s Olympic National Park is designed for participants ages 13-18 who are either new or experienced backpackers. This adventure summer camp in Olympic National Park focuses on leadership and outdoor skill-building with teens camping and hiking beside high alpine lakes, rivers, waterfalls, and meadows. Most trips have an opportunity to summit peaks and/or partake in some spectacular sunsets among some breath-taking geological formations. Risk-taking and challenges complimented by fun and support from others lead to a positive and often life-changing adventure for all!

Itinerary

Day 1: Sol Duc Falls

Stop At: Sol Duc Falls, Olympic National Park, WA
You will meet your Guides/Counselors between 12-1 pm. You will have time to become acquainted with your group as well as your backpacking gear. We will then facilitate a group orientation, answering any last parent or participant questions before hitting the trail. We will hike 5 miles into Appleton Junction Campsite, past the famous Sol Duc Falls. In the evening, we play games, followed by a campfire to strengthen bonds while goal setting.

Accommodation included: Tents at Appleton Junction Campsite!

Day 2: Sol Duc Park

Stop At: Sol Duc Falls, Olympic National Park, WA
After morning circle time (stretches, map review, goal setting, etc.) we will embark on one of our more strenuous days of uphill as we travel from Appleton Junction to Sol Duc Park. Although a strenuous day, our trail breaks today reward us with stunning views of the Olympus mountains as we relax besides mountain creeks, wildflowers, and high alpine lakes. Participants will enjoy the rewards at this popular location within the Olympic backcountry.

Day 3: Layover Day/High Divide

Stop At: High Divide, Olympic National Park, WA
Today will be a layover day, with an easier day of hiking while carrying lighter day packs. We have the opportunity to hike the High Divide from our base camp at Sol Duc Park, which offers unparalleled views throughout Olympic National Park. After the day hike we will return to camp and spend the evening learning new skills and activities.

Day 4: Hoh Lake

Stop At: Hoh Rain Forest, 18118 Upper Hoh Road, Olympic National Park, WA
Today we will hike about 5 miles to Hoh Lake, a stunningly beautiful lake nestled high in the trees. From there, we hop over to CB Flats campground, which offers more secluded camping, with views of Mount Olympus.

Day 5: Deer Lake

Stop At: Hoh Rain Forest, 18118 Upper Hoh Road, Olympic National Park, WA
On our second to last day we will return to the Seven Lakes Basin, passing Hoh Lake again along the way. With a break for Lunch at Lunch Lake, we will continue our journey to Deer Lake, which will be our last camp, about 3.5 miles from the trailhead.

Day 6: Hike Out for Pickup

Stop At: Sol Duc Falls, Olympic National Park, WA
On our final day we will descend back to the Sol Duc Trailhead by noon for pickup.
