The ancient fortress of Lettere has origins dating back at least to the 11th century in the form of a simple fortress equipped with small turrets and walls. The current structure of the fortress, while still retaining characteristics of the Angevin period, is the result of numerous renovations that took place over the centuries. The trapezoidal structure still retains four towers including the largest, the Keep, which was the real residential hub for the Lords. Inside the courtyard it is possible to recognize the Castle Chapel, the well with the water cistern. This area became an Archaeological Park in December 2017, it is possible to view the remains of the ancient inhabited area of ​​letters and the Cathedral dating back to 900 AD. and in particular, the fresco of the Madonna del Soccorso dating back to the 15th century AD. and the bell tower arrived almost completely intact until today.
