Located 11 kilometers from Jaipur, Amer fort is known for its artistic style elements. The fort was built on a high hill above the Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagles) and it overlooks Maota Lake which makes it look unrealistically beautiful. Amer belonged to Meenas (a tribe) but later was ruled by Raja Man Singh who was residing at the palace. The four-level fort was constructed of red sandstone and marble with a courtyard on each level, Diwan-e-Aam, or “Hall of Public Audience”, the Diwan-e-Khas, or “Hall of Private Audience”, the Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace), or Jai Mandir, and the Sukh Niwas.
Amer Fort was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the group Hill Forts of Rajasthan at the 37th session of the World Heritage Committee held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, in 2013.

Overlooking the Amer Fort and the Maota Lake, Jaigarh is situated above the Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagles) the Aravalli range. To protect the Amer Fort, Jaigarh was built by Jai Singh II in 1726 and is interconnected; hence the look of two forts is similar. The world biggest cannon on wheels- the Jai Ban is positioned here. The fort has a beautiful view of Aravalli hills and Sagar Lake and also has two temples from the 10th and 12thcentury.

Originally named as Sudarshangarh and now known as Nahargarh fort is a must visit. Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, the king of Jaipur built the fort in 1734. Few scenes from the movies like Rang De Basanti, Shuddh Desi Romance, and Sonar Kella were shot in the fort, yes it’s that fort. The view of Jaipur city from Nahargarh is all that you would want to see.

Jal Mahal or Water Palace showcases the great Rajput style architecture and is located in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake. Maharaja Jai Singh II of Amer renovated and enlarged the lake and the palace around in the 18th century. It has a picturesque view from the Man Sagar Dam and the Nahargarh hills. The five-storied structure is built in red sandstone and has been one of the must-visit places in Jaipur because of its gorgeous view.

Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II moved from Amer to Jaipur in 1727 and built the most visited place of Jaipur which is still the home to the royal families. Various courtyards, galleries, restaurants, museums along with the famous Govind Dev Ji temple dedicated to Lord Krishna are situated within the fort premises. The most liked and historic areas of the fort are Sabha Niwas (Diwan-e-Aam), Sarvato Bhadra (Diwan-e-Khas), Pritam Niwas Chowk, Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, and the clock tower.

Among the five Jantar Mantar of India, the largest is situated in Jaipur that features the world’s largest stone sundial. It was built in the 18th century by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Known as the Palace of Winds” or “Palace of the Breeze” is situated in the center of the Jaipur city. The 5 storied stunning semi-octagonal monument having 152 windows with overhanging latticed balconies is a fine piece of Rajput architecture

This temple is a must visit in Jaipur, a place where you see more than 100 monkeys at once. This old and beautiful architecture is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and monkeys are a sign of His presence in the temple premises. The moment you enter the temple, you will come across these monkeys playing, eating, feeding baby monkeys, swimming in the pond and jumping here and there. At the time of sunset, this is the only view anybody would want to see.
