Stop At: Cafe Mondegar, Metro House, Near Regal Cinema, Colaba Causeway, Apollo Bandar, Colaba, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400001, India
Cafe Mondegar was started off in 1932 and was the first cafe in the city to have a vintage jukebox. The jukebox sits cosily in a corner with its shiny lights and classic songs waiting to be played. The cafe has gone through its changes, starting off as a cafe in the reception of the then hotel, Apollo to now being a restaurant cum bar.
With Mario Miranda’s murals painted all over the cafe, the cafe is a favourite amongst the tourists and the locals. Its envious location amidst the busy street lined with beautiful jewellery and colourful clothes, it holds its own time.
The servers are always smiling and readily come to us for refills of beer. And if it’s a lucky day, you even get Cafe Mondegar’s postcards to take home.

The walls grab your attention first. Each corner speaks and tells you how funky yet old school it is. From an old wall art which captures the vibe of the café to a wall covered with Harley Davidson metal plates, Leopold will give your eyes enough to relish. It even has a wall art of Abbey Road in its full glory, with waiters flaunting Leopold T-shirts as they walk past it. With an attentive staff in their arsenal, you will feel nothing but comfortable once you have taken a seat.

Stop At: Bay view Cafe, Hotel Harbour View rooftop, PJ Ramchandani Marg, Apollo Bandar, Colaba, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400001, India
Located on the terrace of a hotel facing the sea in the line of Taj Mahal Hotel at Gateway of India, Bayview Cafe is the perfect place to grab a chilled cheap evening beer while munching on yummy snacks. Anyone who needs a mildly secluded place to relax and take in the wind and sea, would be happy to chill at Bayview. It’s an extremely budget-friendly rooftop joint, where you can go with your buds to grab a few beers or wine while enjoying the beautiful sea view.
The vibe here is very casual and the sea view is obviously the highlight. The service is quick since it’s a pretty tiny place, so if you’re getting to know someone new, and want to take them some place low-key so you can have a conversation over beer, then Bayview is the place.

Housed inside a colonial bungalow in Ballard Estate, Fort, Britannia & Company which was run by late Mr Boman Kohinoor – a third generation Kohinoor since it opened its doors in 1923. When there, Mr Kohinoor always interacted personally interacts with the guests. His age-old wit, charm and laugh definitely brightened up the eatery. And since then, hardly anything’s changed here- neither the ambience nor the decor (you will still spot the same bentwood furniture imported from Poland during the eatery’s early years).
