As the largest temple complex in Egypt, in Karnak, a village about 2.5 km north of Luxor and directly on the eastern bank of the Nile. The oldest building remains of the temple still visible today come from the 12 dynasty under the Pharaoh Sesostris.
Outstanding among the ruins are the Temples of Amun-Re with a total of ten pylons. The total area of the temple is about 30 hectares. The largest area of the temple complex is the Amun district. Among other things, you can see the holy lake, the red chapel, the white chapel as well as the alabaster chapel and the temple of Opet.

The Valley of the Kings was a necropolis in ancient Egypt. In ancient Egypt, the Valley of the Kings was called Sechet-aat (the great field).
It is the largest necropolis of the Egyptian pharaohs. The tombs of the rulers of the new empire can be found in the Valley of the Kings. The valley is located in Thebes-West, opposite Karnak on the edge of the desert and is lined with high mountains.
Despite millennia of activity of excavations and looting, the Valley of the Kings still provides Egyptologists with numerous extremely valuable grave finds. In 1922, the tomb of Tutankhamun was discovered largely intact by Howard Carter.
The first clearly identified tomb in the Valley of the Kings comes from the Pharaoh Thutmose I. With Napoleon’s expedition to Egypt the systematic search and opening of tombs began. In the Valley of the Kings you will visit three selected tombs.

The Colossi of Memnon are two colossal ancient Egyptian statues from the 14th century BC. You are in the Nile Valley not far from the Valley of the Kings in Thebes-West.
The quartzite statues represent King Amenhotep III sitting on a throne.
The statues are still around 18 meters high, including the base.

The entire temple complex was built from limestone. This temple was built within about 15 years, from the 7th to the 22nd year of Queen Hatshepsut’s reign. The temple has its own idiosyncratic architecture.
