Built by Napoleon during the French conquests, it was used as a stronghold by defenders of Dubrovnik during the war that followed the collapse of communist Yugoslavia in early 1990’s. You’ll hear more stories from those turbulent times in Homeland War Museum, located in the fort itself.
While visiting this museum, you’ll get the chance to fully understand every aspect of the Homeland War – from casualties and war crimes to stories of the defenders and military tactics like the famous Operation Flash and Operation Storm that were a major factor in winning the war.
